Lullaby
Listen and I will sing to you,
something intimate and meant
to soothe, some song I know
that reminds me of you now,
here, in this moment, exclusive
to you. I will hum and I will
croon, in the dark of this quiet
room, I will sing to you to still
your mind and whisper tunes
to slow your heart, to even your
breath. I will sing to you about
homecoming and the full, white
moon, and in low tones, I will
sing about you- your eyes in
the morning, your smiles in the
afternoon- and about all of the
places you will one day go, and
all of the ways you will find to
get there, and all of the many
truths you will know, because,
you know, I had the chance to
hold you near and sing to you.
So the purpose of this blog is to be a space to practice creativity. I am currently using it as a place to record a single, unedited poem for each day in 2019. While I attempt to write everyday, I may not actually post daily. Instead, I will post poems as they are completed, but one for everyday of the year. Not sure I can make it, but we'll see. It's fun to try regardless :)
