A Poem for Emily Dickinson on her Birthday
Happy Birthday to you Emily.
You are often on my mind-
Having written so prolifically,
The poetic passage of your time.
I wonder if you were driven
By the Muses or the Task?
And I hope I'd be forgiven
If, were we to meet, I asked.
Don't think I've not considered
The Notoriety that would ensue,
If before my Last Bird flittered,
I had written more than you.
